Jaw bone damaged by radiation heals slowly. Oxygen under pressure is used before and after dental surgery.

Who this is for

Head and neck cancer survivors facing a tooth extraction or jaw surgery in a radiated area, or already dealing with exposed, non-healing bone.

What oxygen does

Radiated bone has lost its blood supply and cannot repair itself. Oxygen under pressure brings new vessels into the bone so it can heal after surgery or close over on its own.

What a course looks like

Before planned dental surgery, a set of sessions before and a set after. For bone that is already exposed, a longer course with your oral surgeon.

This is an approved use of hyperbaric oxygen under Medicare and UHMS guidelines. Whether it is right for you is a decision made with our physician and yours.

Treated at both clinics: Great Neck and Massapequa Park.
